Jamaican Cuisine In The UK.

Welcome to the Goodlife Jerk Centre blog!

Today we’re talking about the influence of Jamaican cuisine on the United Kingdom. The story of Jamaican food in the UK starts in the 1950s, when the Windrush Generation of Jamaicans arrived in the UK on the famous ship, the Empire Windrush. This wave of immigration brought with it a new and exciting food culture, which has since become a staple of British culture.

The flavours of jerk chicken and curried goat, for example, have become familiar in British homes, as well as in restaurants across the country. Caribbean food stalls can be found in cities up and down the country, from London to Glasgow, and a variety of Caribbean-inspired recipes can be found in cookbooks, magazines and on the internet. The influence of Jamaican cuisine is even more evident in the UK’s cities and towns, where Caribbean restaurants are popular.

At Goodlife Jerk Centre, we are proud to be part of this history.

We offer a range of authentic Caribbean meals and snacks, including jerk chicken, curried goat, oxtail and more.
